Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Excellence Science Tutoring. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our services and website. By signing up through our form and submitting your payment details via GoCardless, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Please read them carefully.

1. Who We Are

Excellence Science Tutoring is a UK-based tutoring company that matches students with expert self-employed tutors for online science education.
We operate via our website: [www.excellencesciencetutoring.com] and communicate primarily via email, Whatsapp and Microsoft Teams.

2. Our Service Model

  • Clients complete the sign-up form on our website.

  • An email is sent with a secure link to set up a Direct Debit via GoCardless.

  • Once payment details are confirmed, we match the student with a suitable tutor.

  • The student and tutor arrange lessons directly between themselves.

  • Tutors log completed lessons (including hours) into our internal system.

  • At the end of each month, you are billed based on the number of hours of tutoring delivered.

3. Payment Terms

  • All payments are processed via GoCardless through Direct Debit.

  • You must complete your Direct Debit setup before the first lesson.
    We will not provide tutoring without valid payment details.

  • Invoices are generated at the end of each calendar month.

  • Your GoCardless account will be debited automatically based on the hours recorded by your tutor.

4. Lesson Rates

Level

£25 per hour

AS Level / Higher

£28 per hour

A Level / Advanced Higher

£30 per hour

All pricing is in GBP and includes any applicable VAT (if charged).

5. Cancellation Policy

  • If you cancel a scheduled lesson less than 24 hours before it is due to take place, the full lesson fee will be charged.

  • If the cancellation is due to exceptional or unforeseen circumstances (e.g. illness, emergencies), it is at the discretion of the tutor and the director whether the fee is waived.

  • You must contact the tutor directly to cancel or rearrange lessons.

6. Communication and Lesson Arrangements

  • After tutor matching, all lesson scheduling and communication is conducted directly between the client (or student) and the assigned tutor.

  • Tutors are independent contractors and are not employees of Excellence Science Tutoring.

  • Any concerns about tutors should be directed to us at: gogertythomas@gmail.com

7. Refunds

  • Refunds are not automatically issued unless a billing error occurs.

  • If you believe you have been charged incorrectly, contact us within 14 days of the invoice.

8. Your Responsibilities

By using our service, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and up-to-date contact and student information

  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with tutors

  • Ensure that students are available and prepared for each lesson

  • Maintain active and valid payment details

9. Our Responsibilities

We are responsible for:

  • Matching you with a qualified and subject-appropriate tutor

  • Ensuring timely communication regarding billing

  • Handling personal data in accordance with our [Privacy Policy]

We are not liable for:

  • The conduct or performance of the student

  • Technical issues during online sessions

  • Delays or errors caused by external platforms (e.g. GoCardless, Microsoft Teams)

10. Data Protection

We are committed to protecting your data.
Please see our full Privacy Policy for information on how we handle your personal information, including payment details and student data.

11. Termination

You may stop using our service at any time by giving written notice.
However, you remain liable for any lessons already delivered and logged by the tutor.

We reserve the right to terminate service if:

  • Payment fails or is withdrawn

  • There is misuse or abuse of our platform or tutors

  • You breach these Terms and Conditions

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.
All changes will be published on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of any revised terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

14. Educational Materials and Intellectual Property

  • Any educational content, lesson materials, worksheets, or resources provided through our website or tutors are for personal, non-commercial use only.

  • These materials may not be reproduced, republished, sold, or distributed without our written permission.

  • Where we use publicly available materials (such as past papers or mark schemes from exam boards), copyright remains with the original owner (e.g., AQA, SQA, Edexcel). These are used under the "fair dealing" provisions of UK copyright law for the purposes of teaching, private study, or examination revision.

  • By accessing these materials, you agree not to misuse or redistribute them.

15. Website Use

By using this website, you agree to:

  • Use the site only for lawful purposes

  • Not copy, scrape, or download content without permission

  • Not attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or interfere with the website’s operation
